Yotpo to sunset native Email and SMS products in December 2025
It has now been confirmed by yotpo that they will exit Email and SMS products in December 2025.
The confirmation of this exit from Email and SMS services was published on the yotpo blog on August 5th, in a statement from Tomer, yotpo’s CEO.
We’ve made the difficult decision to sunset our native Email and SMS products in December of 2025. Instead, we’re focusing fully on building the strongest Reviews and Loyalty platform in the market and partnering with the rest of the industry on deep integrations.
I know many of you trusted us to power critical parts of your retention strategy across Reviews, Loyalty, Email, and SMS. This change affects your team and your workflows, and I don’t take that lightly. I’m grateful for your trust, and I’m sorry for the near term disruption.
No doubt a tough decision for Tomer and the team and yet another defining moment in yotpo’s incredible journey.
The challenge they faced appears to be that sustaining the competitive price advantage across their Email and SMS products simply was not sustainable given the messaging volumes hey where handling.
So, what does this mean if you’re currently using yotpo for your Email & SMS – with just three months to go before we are in to Black Friday season?
The good news is that migrating your Email and SMS from yotpo to another vendor does not take weeks, its a migration that if managed carefully can be completed within days, with no downtime for your campaigns or automations.
The more immediate task is to work out which platform you should migrate your Email and SMS requirements to, mindful that you want this to be a platform that works seamlessly with your current tech stack and critically is within your budget.
Why is Yotpo shutting down email and SMS?
This strategic decision allows them to focus entirely on reviews and loyalty products where they excel.
Timeline for the shutdown:
- August 3, 2025: Announcement made
- Now – December 2025: Full service continues normally – so no need to make any snap decisions
- December 31, 2025: Email and SMS services end permanently – best to give yourself at least 4 weeks from this date to migrate
Matching yotpo’s pricing
On the budget decision this is going to be tough as yotpo was very competitively priced for both Email and SMS, so trying to price match to those rates in the medium to long term is probably going to be a challenge.
Predictably, the main competitors have all been quick to make migration offers and indeed yotpo has announced strategic partnerships with Attentive for SMS and Omnisend for both Email and SMS.
Klaviyo has announced it will hold your yotpo pricing for the first 12 months, on the surface a good clean offer, the problem we have with this is that you’ll then revert to Klaviyo’s standard pricing which is commonly considered to be at the premium end of the spectrum and as we all are aware, they are not shy on annual price increases.
